Holiday and Food Wine Pairing |
Holiday meals are a great time to try new wines with your favorite recipes of old. Will you be serving ham, turkey, goose, pork or prime rib? If you are looking for new wine options to complement your holiday meal, then check the list below. There are several choices to please a wide variety of palates and enhance your holiday gatherings.
Wines to Serve with Turkey Reds: Grenache, Pinot Noir , Beaujolais Nouveau , Zinfandel , Syrah/Shiraz, Whites: Riesling, Gewurztraminer , Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier
Wines to Serve with Ham Reds:, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Beaujolais Nouveau Whites: Riesling and Gewurztraminer
Wines to Serve with Goose Reds: Zinfandel, Red Burgundy, Tempranillo Whites: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc
Wines to Serve with Pork Crown Roast Reds: Chianti Whites: Any white, but a heavier white like an oaked Chardonnay would be better
Wines to Serve with Prime Rib Reds: Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Shiraz, Tempranillo Whites: Typically white wines have a difficult time holding up to the bold flavors found in red meats, so while it is possible to enjoy white wines with red meats, it is hard to find a good match.
