Wines for Humanity Home Tasting Parties Share Wine’s Pleasures, Fundraise for Families in Need

Lancaster, SC- Wines for Humanity, a company dedicated to introducing the public to the joy of fine wines while raising funds for charity, continues to promote its cause-related tastings through wine enthusiasts such as Debbie Burgess, a personal chef and owner of The Hungry Fox catering outside Lancaster, S.C.

Burgess found an outlet for her enthusiasm through Wines for Humanity, a home wine tasting company that pairs enjoying the grape with fundraising for charity. She shares that passion in homes around Union and Mecklenburg counties to benefit Crisis Assistance Ministries.

Wine tastings are a key component of Wines for Humanity’s comprehensive mission – helping less fortunate families by sharing one’s passion for wine.  The premise of a Wines for Humanity wine tasting is simple -- a Wine Advisor brings 7 exclusive wines, ranging from light whites to rich reds. The Wine Advisors explain everything from how to correctly taste wine to what food pairs with the wines to create an ideal meal. Guests discuss and enjoy the wines as they learn about different wine styles and global regions.

Burgess brings all the equipment needed, including glasses. In addition to private home tastings, Burgess conducts them for businesses and as fundraisers for nonprofit events. The tastings are an adjunct to her chef/catering business, and her goal is to do four tastings per month, including “friendly competition” team-building tastings for corporations.

“(Tastings) give me the opportunity to teach, which I love, and learn more about wine,” Burgess said. “And if you have a heart for a charity, it’s perfect.”

About Wines for Humanity

Headquartered in Chicago, IL, Wines for Humanity is a wine tasting company dedicated to introducing the public to the joy of fine wines while raising funds for charity.  The brain child of founder and President Anton Steinhart, the idea for Wines for Humanity was sparked by Steinhart’s generosity, desire to help less fortunate families, and passion for wine.  "Our goal is that no family in America, with children, should become homeless through circumstances beyond their control," Steinhart says.

A portion of the proceeds from every bottle promoted directly benefits families in the community who find themselves on the brink of homelessness for reasons beyond their control.  Wines for Humanity has raised over $200,000 for a variety of local charities.
